The Internet and computers are becoming increasingly important in our everyday lives. We use computers at work and at home and our smart phones and tablets while we are on the go. We purchase goods, communicate with friends and family, do our banking and plan our travel with computers and mobile devices. All this is done with a certain amount of trust, and little, if any, consideration of the threats that exist. In this webinar, you will examine the threats to your identity, your devices and your data. These threats include social engineering attacks, malicious software, eavesdropping, and physical threats to your security such as fires, disaster and theft. You will explore how you are vulnerable to these attacks and develop good practices and defenses to protect against them.

This webinar is the third in a series of eight webinars discussing the fundamentals of cybersecurity (Cybersecurity 101).

Presenter: Derek Smith

Derek Smith is responsible for the development and coordination of cyber security initiatives at the National Cybersecurity Institute. Derek has served in the US Navy, Air Force and Army for a total of 24 years. He completed an MBA, MS in IT Information Assurance, Masters in IT Project Management, and a BS in Education.

In recognition of Data Privacy Day 2015, NCI is organizing a webinar on Cyber Insurance. In today’s risky environment, it’s not if, but when. At some point your organization will be the target of a cyber attack or the victim of cybercrime, insider misuse, fraud or theft. Understanding what you get from cyber liability insurance – and what you don’t – is critical.
