In honor of National Nurses Week, Alumni Leadership Council Member Sandy Butterfield, BS in Nursing ’86, is launching The Shift Report, a quarterly Alumni Speaker Series webinar that will explore the issues that nurses and healthcare workers face in the workplace. The inaugural webinar will focus on violence in the workplace: definitions and examples of violence, as well as what health care workers can do about it.
A lifelong nurse, Sandy’s experience spans nursing and supervisory roles in various units with a special interest in telemetry and psychiatry. She currently works as the Charge Nurse in the psychiatric unit at Pomerado Hospital in San Diego, CA. She is also an adjunct professor at National University where she teaches the psychiatric section of the nursing students’ clinical rotations. In addition to her degree from Excelsior, she holds a Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Science in Healthcare Administration, which she earned through the dual degree program at St. Joseph’s College of Maine. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau.
Joining Sandy to talk about this important topic will be Jessica Cheverie, AS in Nursing ’02, who is re-enrolled in Excelsior’s RN-BS in Nursing program.
